Q&A`S
Below you will find the answers to some frequently asked semi-permanent brow make-up questions in relation to your procedure.
Q. What is the difference between powder brows and microblading?
A. Please visit the Treatments page to understand the difference between the two.
Q. Does it hurt?
A. Discomfort is minimal and you will be kept comfortable during your treatment.
Q. Do I need a patch test?
A. Yes, this is essential to ensure that you are not allergic to the pigments and equipment used during the procedure. This should be carried out at least 48 hrs before treatment. A full medical consultation will also be conducted to ensure there are no contraindications.
Q. Will I need a touch-up?
A. Yes, a perfecting re-touch appointment is recommended 6 weeks to complete the treatment.
Q. Why do I need a touch-up?
A. This is a two-step process. The colour will fade after the initial procedure during the healing process and is totally normal. Better colour retention can be expected after the second treatment. This also provides the opportunity to reflect on shape and colour and address any necessary changes.
Q. How long does it last?
A. On average the procedure lasts approx. 12-18 months depending on the skin type without maintenance. Oilier skins will require more frequent retouches.
Q. Is it safe?
A. Yes. A patch test will be carried out before the treatment and your medical history will be taken to ensure that there are no contraindications. The procedure itself is performed by a fully insured technician under sterile conditions and licensed by the local authority.
Q. How long does it take?
A. Approx 2-3 hours. Most of this time is spent mapping out the brow shape and ensuring the brows are symmetrical before any blading or shading takes place.
Q. Will I be swollen afterwards?
A. There should be little to no visible swelling afterwards. Mild redness in the area is normal but should disappear approx. 30 mins afterwards. Some tenderness is to be expected.
Q. How long does it take to heal?
A. The area should have healed after 6 weeks. No further treatment should be undertaken within this period.
Q. How do you choose the shape?
A. Measurements are calculated according to your features and a calliper is used to map out the shape that your brows should be to suit your face, working with your existing hair growth.
Q. Can I come with my brows drawn in as I like them?
A. Yes, by all means. This can be helpful to understand your preferences. However, makeup is subjective so please bear in mind that measurements will still be taken to check that the overall shape is correct for your facial structure, and the shape will be redrawn before treatment.
Q. I already have permanent make-up and would like to change the colour and shape, can you help?
A. Generally speaking, fresh work can be carried out providing that the old PMU pigment has faded enough that the new work will be visible. A consultation will be required to discuss your suitability for treatment and the best options available to you. Some removal sessions may be recommended if necessary to achieve the best outcome.
Q. How do you choose the pigment colour?
A. Pigments are matched according to your skin tone, existing brow and head hair colour.
Q. What will the end result look like?
A. This will depend on the result you are looking to achieve. The different treatment options available will be discussed at your consultation to determine the best option for you.
Q. Can it be removed?
A. Microblading Manchester offer saline removal. Clients should expect to require several sessions. Emergency removal should be undertaken within 48hrs of initial treatment.
Q. Is there any reason why I can’t have it done?
A. Your suitability for treatment will be discussed prior to treatment.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Please familiarise yourself with the price list for further information.
